日航ジャンボ１２３便 ソ連軍機Tu-22が彫っていたU字溝には現在針葉樹林のモミの木が植えられている。極東ロシアの意味。

昭和６０年８月１２日の日航ジャンボ１２３便ソ連自衛隊核攻撃惨事（背景に中国共産党中国軍中国公安部）において、御巣鷹の尾根とスゲノ沢本流を挟んだ向かいに「U字溝」が位置する。
この、
U字溝には、現在、常緑のモミの木が植林されており、付近はカラマツ森であるため冬にはひときわ目立つ場所となっている。
そして、
U字溝にモミの木が植えてある意味であるが、ソ連極東ロシアのツンドラ地帯という意味で、ソ連軍機TU-22盲（バックファイヤー）が刻んだ地形であるということが、ここでも示されている。
